About CDPDT

The Council for Data Privacy & Digital Trust (CDPDT) is a multidisciplinary professional platform under the aegis of the Emerging Businesses Chamber of Commerce (EBCC). CDPDT is positioned as an independent, neutral and knowledge-led professional platform and does not hold itself out as a regulator, statutory authority or government accreditation body.

03

Purpose of the Website

The Website provides information about CDPDT, data privacy and digital trust initiatives, membership, programmes, events, research, learning resources, working groups, DPDPA readiness initiatives and opportunities to engage with the community.

04

Information is Educational, Not Professional Advice

Website content, templates, articles, event material and general helpdesk resources are for awareness, education and general informational purposes. They do not constitute legal, cybersecurity, audit, tax, financial or other professional advice and do not create a lawyer-client, consultant-client, fiduciary or similar professional relationship. Organisations should obtain advice appropriate to their facts before taking material compliance or business decisions.

05

DPDPA Readiness and Expert Referrals

CDPDT operates as an ecosystem enabler rather than a regulatory or compliance-certification authority. Readiness assessments, clinics, checklists or handholding activities are intended to support understanding and implementation; they do not guarantee legal compliance or regulatory acceptance. Where CDPDT facilitates access to an empanelled or third-party professional, any specialist engagement should be governed by a separate agreement between the relevant parties unless expressly stated otherwise.

06

Membership, Events and Programmes

  • Membership and programme eligibility may vary by category and is subject to the applicable application, approval, fee and governance requirements.
  • CDPDT/EBCC may reschedule, modify or cancel events or programmes for operational reasons. Applicable cancellation/refund terms should be displayed at the point of registration.
  • Member benefits, speakers, programmes, working groups and resources may evolve and are not guaranteed to remain unchanged indefinitely.
  • Participation must be professional, respectful, lawful and consistent with applicable codes of conduct, confidentiality requirements and EBCC/CDPDT governance rules.
07

User Submissions and Community Contributions

If you submit articles, comments, research, presentations, photographs, profiles, templates or other material, you confirm that you have the right to submit it and that it does not infringe third-party rights or applicable law. Unless separately agreed, you grant [EBCC/CDPDT – confirm legal entity] a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, reproduce and communicate the submitted material for the purpose for which it was provided, including promotion of the relevant programme, with reasonable attribution where appropriate.

08

Intellectual Property

Unless otherwise stated, the Website design, CDPDT name/logo, Privacy First Mindset branding, publications, graphics, training material, templates and other original content are owned by or licensed to [EBCC/CDPDT – confirm rights holder]. Personal, non-commercial use is permitted for lawful purposes. Reproduction, commercial exploitation, modification, systematic extraction, rebranding or distribution requires prior written permission, except where a resource is expressly released under different licence terms.

09

Acceptable Use

  • Do not attempt unauthorised access, security testing, scraping at disruptive scale, malware distribution or interference with the Website.
  • Do not impersonate another person or submit false or misleading registration information.
  • Do not use the Website to infringe privacy, intellectual-property or other legal rights.
  • Do not use CDPDT/EBCC names, logos or membership status to imply endorsement, accreditation, regulatory approval or authority that has not been expressly granted.
10

Third-party Services and Links

The Website may contain links to third-party websites, platforms, payment services, event tools or professional resources. Links are provided for convenience and do not automatically constitute endorsement. Third-party services are governed by their own terms and privacy practices.

11

Disclaimer and Limitation of Liability

The Website and general resources are provided on an “as available” basis. While reasonable efforts are made to keep information useful and current, CDPDT/EBCC does not warrant that all content is complete, error-free, continuously available or suitable for every factual situation. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, [legal entity] will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss arising solely from reliance on general Website content. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

12

Privacy and Cookies

Use of personal data and cookies is governed by the CDPDT Website Privacy Notice and Cookie Policy, which form part of the Website governance framework.

13

Suspension / Removal

CDPDT/EBCC may restrict access to member resources, remove unlawful or inappropriate content, or suspend participation where reasonably necessary to protect the Website, community, legal rights, security or integrity of the Council, subject to applicable membership/governance rules.

14
